A Guardsman Always Keeps High Standards


For the first time in its 94-year history, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) sent a contingent to the United Kingdom to perform Public Duties for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, but you may not know about a certain Guards connection. Master Warrant Officer Dipen Mistry, appointed RCAF Public Duties Air Task Force Warrant Officer, (picture below) started his career in the GGFG joining the Ceremonial Guard in 1997. No wonder he looked so good on the march! MWO Mistry has recently renewed his ties with the regiment and we were proud to welcome him to our ball last February.

On behalf of the GGFG Regimental Association I would encourage you all to congratulate MWO Mistry on his fine accomplishment in representing Canada, the RCAF, and his former regiment to a very high standard.

Excerpt from the RCAF public duties page:

"Over 120 members of the RCAF from across Canada, including the RCAF Band are deploying as part of the contingent. This group will be the first non-infantry contingent from Canada to undertake UK Public Duties for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

This is truly a Canada-wide initiative for the RCAF. The contingent is made up of members from each of the RCAF’s 14 Wings. The contingent will be led by Major Véronique Gagné, RCAF Public Duties Air Task Force Commander and Master Warrant Officer Dipen Mistry, RCAF Public Duties Air Task Force Warrant Officer.

The Queen’s Guard, as the group will be called while performing Public Duties, are soldiers charged, in support of the civil authorities, with guarding the Sovereign and the official royal residences in the United Kingdom. These include Buckingham Palace, St. James’s Palace, Windsor Castle, and the Tower of London."
